Holiday Festivities in La Mirada

The La Mirada community has plenty of ways to get in the spirit and enjoy the holiday festivities with friends, family, and neighbors. Whether sitting back and enjoying music at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts or experiencing the community tree lighting at the Chili Holiday Celebration, there are events to delight everyone. The Masters of Harmony present: Together for Christmas – November 30
Kick-off the Christmas season with the joy A Cappella harmony and song performed by the International Chorus Champion, Masters of Harmony and their special guests, Sweet Adeline International Champions, Harborlites Chorus. These award-winning groups will perform sacred and secular Christmas music – all guaranteed to bring the theme “Together For Christmas” to life, warm your heart, and put you in the Christmas spirit. An Unforgettable Nat King Cole Christmas starring Evan Tyrone MartinDecember 1
La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts invites you to attend An Unforgettable Nat King Cole Christmas on December 1st at 3 pm. Award-nominated Chicago sensation Evan Tyrone Martin (Jesus Christ Superstar) warmly resonates the velvety vocal style Nat King Cole. Chicago Tribune calls him “Destined for Stardom,” and critics cheer, “No one alive sings Nat King Cole’s ‘Nature Boy’ as well as Evan Tyrone Martin” (Sacramento Cultural Hub). A gifted storyteller, Martin lovingly relates Cole’s personal journey alongside a festive cocktail of signature songs and festive hits including “L-O-V-E,” “Mona Lisa,” “The Christmas Song,” and “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth.” Click here for tickets.

Biola University Annual Christmas Tree Lighting – December 4
Biola’s Alumni and Parent Relations invite you to the 2019 Biola University Christmas Tree Lighting on Wednesday, December 4th. There will be a Christmas Fair from 4:30 – 9 pm on the Sycamore Lawn. Enjoy live handbell carols as you stroll through various vendors looking for some early Christmas presents for your friends and family. The tree lighting ceremony will be from 7 – 8 pm on the Metzger Lawn. This is a free event for the entire community with no registration required.

The Magic of Christmas – December 6 – 15
Join The Young American’s as all 250 cast members come together to turn La Mirada Theatre into a winter wonderland and bring holiday cheer to theatre-goers of all ages. The Magic of Christmas features state of the art 45-foot LED walls, over 6,000 costumes and 30 festive scene changes. Creatively produced and choreographed, these ‘fun for the whole family’ musical numbers range from hip-hopping penguins, dancing Santas, and The Nutcracker Suite, to Toyland, The Polar Express and Christmas choral music including Handel’s Messiah. From their early days of performing with such legends as Andy Williams, Ed Sullivan, and Bing Crosby to their current International Music Outreach Tours that include 325 shows each year across 17 countries, The Young Americans remain the pinnacle of excellence in both music and dance performance. Chili Holiday Celebration – December 7
Celebrate the holiday season with family and friends at the annual Chili Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center. Festivities will include live entertainment, holiday crafts, hot dogs, warm beverages, cookies and of course, chili! Families can participate in snow sledding, photos with Santa, a holiday train ride, and help with the countdown of the tree lighting ceremony. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and unwrapped toys to the event to support local families in need. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Holiday Wreath Auction benefiting the La Mirada Community Foundation. Biola Conservatory of Music Annual Christmas Concert – December 7
Join Biola’s Conservatory of Music at their Annual Christmas concert, God With Us. The multi-venue evening will highlight the Conservatory ensembles in three spaces around campus and will conclude with a candlelight carol sing in front of the music building. Click here for tickets.

A Choral Christmas – The newly renovated Calvary Chapel and its spectacular acoustics will sing with the Christmas choral music of the Biola University Chorale, Men’s and Women’s Choruses.
A Traditional Instrumental Christmas – Sutherland Auditorium will feature the quintessential sounds of beloved Christmas carols from the Symphonic winds.
A Classical Christmas – Crowell Hall will feature the joyful, traditional sounds of Christmas from the Strings Orchestra.

Holiday Toy and Food Drive – November 1 – December 13
Spread holiday cheer to those in need during the La Mirada Holiday Toy and Food Drive taking place Thursday, November 1 through Friday, December 14. Donations of new unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items will be collected and distributed to local organizations. Bring donations to any of the designated drop off locations and help make this a season of giving. Drop off locations:

Donations of new unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items will be collected and distributed to local organizations, including the La Mirada Volunteer Center, Interfaith Food Center, Grace Evangelical Free Church, St. Paul of the Cross Church and Beatitudes of Our Lord Church.

Christmas with the Celts – December 22
The wildly famous PBS show “Christmas with The Celts” returns to La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts by popular demand! This high-stepping spirited show presents a perfect combination of modern Christmas hits, lively Irish Carols, spontaneous humor, thrilling Irish dancing, and lush string arrangements giving audiences a most memorable Christmas experience. Christmas with the Celts isn’t just a concert; it’s a celebration of the holiday spirit, perfect for the whole family. December 22nd at 3 pm. Click here for tickets.
