Chamber Attends Unveiling of Free College Program

The La Mirada Chamber of Commerce was invited to attend the “2 Years for Free at Cerritos College” news conference on February 12th. Cerritos College unveiled Cerritos Complete, a California College Promise program allowing students to attend Cerritos College free for two years. Rich Trujillo, president of the Chamber, came to represent the many La Mirada companies that have business with the college.

Cerritos Complete is a student success initiative that focuses on our students’ pledge to earn and complete their degrees or certificates on time. Cerritos Complete is a partnership between Cerritos College and six local school districts including Norwalk-La Mirada.

The Cerritos Complete program is a great opportunity for high school seniors to smoothly transition to college. This program provides opportunities for high school seniors to obtain the skills and knowledge needed for college, explore a variety of careers, save money on their college education, and graduate from college on time. Cerritos Complete is available to graduating high school seniors or completing high school equivalency from our local school district who complete the steps in high school.

Also in attendance was Zurich Lewis, a Cerritos College Board of Trustee, La Mirada resident, and local Chamber member. Zurich was elected to the Cerritos College Board in 2014 to Trustee Area 7 representing the cities of La Mirada, Norwalk, Cerritos, Santa Fe Springs, and Unincorporated Whittier.
